Application: Plan to Succeed Scholarship

 

The Plan to Succeed Student Scholarship is a one-time scholarship offered by a Pike High School graduate. He is a local business owner, author, and former comedian. Feel free to show your personality in your answers. He will appreciate it.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000 award; must be used for payment of tuition/fees or on-campus housing at the university student attends

This award is presented to at least one senior student who best meets the following criteria:

  1. You must be a first-generation college student (the first member of your immediate family to attend college).
  2. You must have a grade point average between 2.7-3.5
  3. You must have been a Pike High School student for at least three years.
  4. You must plan to further your education at a college, university, or technical school, and you must meet the entrance requirements of that institution.
  5. You must be an active member of the student body as demonstrated by your participation in extra-curricular activities and/or you must be employed full or part-time in a paying job.
  6. You must complete all sections of the application.
  7. You must attach a copy of your transcript, or mail it to scholarships@pike-ef.org

Scholarship applications are due at 3:00 p.m. on March 16, 2018. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Try to show your personality through your answers. The top three finalists may be asked to schedule an interview with the scholarship committee

1. Please describe your extracurricular activities. (e.g. job, sports, band).

2. Why don’t you have a 4.0 GPA? (It’s okay that you don’t, the donor didn’t either.)

3. Why did you choose the school that you chose?

4. What do you want to do as a career? (If you don’t know, that’s okay. Just tell the committee what you are leaning toward.)

5. What would you do for college money if you didn’t get this scholarship?

6. Have you personally saved any money for college? (Tell us about it.)

7. What is your favorite part about Pike High School?

8. What makes you laugh every time you think of it?

9. The donor is a normal guy giving you a scholarship; will you think about someday being a normal person that just gives somebody money for college? (Tell me about it.)

10. How will being the first person in your family to go to college make you feel?

11. Describe something you have done in your life that you once thought was nearly impossible to do. What’s your next big idea and how are you going to accomplish it?

12. Should you be among the top three candidates for this award, would you be willing to be interviewed by the committee and the donor?
